About Birch Estate

The history of this beautiful estate

In the ownership of one family for almost 300 years Birch Estate is a traditional agricultural and sporting Estate covering 4,000 acres with 400 acres of woodland, just a few miles south of Colchester and with very quick access to the A12, A120 and Marks Tey railway station.

We have some lovely countryside and interesting topography which produces exciting shooting. Much of the Estate has evolved around shooting with mature woodland and cut rides maintained specifically for the purpose.

We run a well-known live bird shoot and have game records going back one hundred and twenty years. Our highly experienced shoot staff are friendly and extremely capable in assisting participants of all abilities.
